POY is a partially oriented yarn produced through the melt-spinning process using various types of semi-dull and bright polyester chips. It is manufactured in both raw white and dope-dyed forms using masterbatch colorants. During melt spinning, the filaments are drawn to a certain extent to achieve the desired levels of uniformity, strength, shrinkage, and elongation.
Polyester POY filament yarns are not directly suitable for weaving in the textile industry. To achieve properties similar to natural fiber yarns and make them suitable for weaving, they typically undergo further processing such as texturizing (DTY = Draw Textured Yarn), air texturizing (ATY = Air Textured Yarn), or full drawing (FDY = FOY = SDY = Fully Drawn Yarn). Therefore, POY is primarily used as a raw material for DTY, ATY, and FDY production.
