FDY, also known as FOY (Fully Oriented Yarn) or SDY (Spun Drawn Yarn), is typically produced through a melt-spinning process similar to POY, but at higher spinning speeds and with intermediate drawing during the process. This method allows for molecular orientation and crystallization, stabilizing the yarn's properties.
Another method of producing FDY involves applying tension to POY in a two-stage process. Each of these methods imparts different characteristics to the final product. FDY is used both as a raw material for producing twisted yarn and directly in weaving applications.
FDY yarn is used in the following applications:
Home Textiles:
Including upholstery fabrics, curtains, scarves, sewing and embroidery threads, and Raschel blankets.
Clothing:
Used in woven fabrics, circular knits, and velvet textiles.
Industrial and General Applications:
Such as woven seat covers, seat belts, industrial tapes, hose protection sleeves, container covers, and geotextile fabrics.
